Meet the Founder

Hi, I'm a software engineer who started Selfish Network with a simple goal: to help people connect with others in their own locality for solving real problems rather than random posts.

When I looked at existing hyperlocal social platforms, I only found few members from my neighborhood. Additionally, most platforms seemed filled with endless random posts rather than helping people solve everyday local problems.

Simple questions like "Is the nearby shop open?", "Can I find electrical appliance nearby ?", "Is anyone leaving for airport tomorrow?", "Has the power gone in my area?", or "Does anyone know a good cook?" often had no easy answer. As a result, many people turn to online orders or individual solutions even when a local option may exist—adding unnecessary fuel consumption, packaging waste, traffic, and environmental impact.

I wanted a platform where conversations have a purpose. So I decided to build the text-first tool I wished existed: a place where neighbors can easily connect, share useful local information, discover what's happening nearby, and support one another when needed.

Our vision

Our vision goes beyond communication. We want to enable communities to work together on local initiatives, encourage sustainable living, support nearby businesses, and reduce unnecessary waste by making local information accessible.

We believe that a strong neighborhood is built when people work together instead of living as isolated individuals.

Selfish Network is being released one locality at a time, and we're building it with continuous feedback from the communities we serve. Every new member helps shape a platform that is genuinely useful for everyone.

Why the name Selfish Network ?

The name is meant to be a little provocative, on purpose. Most social platforms want your time and attention — endless feeds, random posts, and content designed to keep you scrolling. We wanted to build the opposite.

Being "selfish" here means being selfish with your own time. Don't post just to post, and don't scroll just to scroll. Show up when you actually need something from your locality, or when you can genuinely help a neighbor with something they need. Every interaction should have a purpose.

So Selfish Network is a platform built around that idea — connect with the people around you only when it matters, and spend the rest of your time living your life, not feeding a feed.
